Alert Indian troops bust terrorist hideout in Kupwara district of JK; recovers huge cache of arms and ammunition
Srinagar, April 23: Intensified efforts from security forces to eradicate terrorists and terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir has led to break the backbone of extremists. Notably, security forces on Sunday in a major breakthrough busted a terrorist hideout in Handwara town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.
After getting a specific input, in a joint operation led by Army and Jammu and Kashmir’s police launched a search operation in Watsar forest area in Handwara town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition. A police spokesman said that the area has been highly infested with terrorism since long, adding that a case was registered in the matter.
A Pika gun, a Bazooka, a Radio-set yaesu, six Mor rounds, 940 Pika ammunition rounds, three silencers, six AK magazines, four IED initiating mechanism, eight kg of IED, 21 UBGL rounds, one hand grenade, four RPG rounds, 15 RPG boosters, 20 electric detonators, four detonator boxes and a magazine box were recovered from the spot.
On April 7, Jammu and Kashmir police busted a network of Pakistan-based terror outfit Ansar Gajwatulhind and arrested two hardcore associates of terrorists in Awantipora district. The cash, arms and ammunitions including hand grenade was recovered from their possession.
Earlier in the month of February this year, a team of the Indian Army and a team of the Jammu and Kashmir Police busted two terrorist hideouts and recovered a large cache of weapons, ammunition and other war-like stores in Haribudha and Bhatidhar forests in Mendhar and Surankote belts of Poonch district.
Interestingly, the Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that more than 206 terrorists were eliminated by Indian troops last year.
