Uttarakhand gets 1700 Cr fund for development

Dehradun, April 24: Uttarakhand and The Asian Development Bank (ADB)have shaken hands with the aim to develop the state and for this ADB has agreed in principle to give an aid of 1,700 crore rupees to the state for infrastructure development and creation of sewerage treatment facilities in urban areas.

This was conveyed to Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat by the country director of ADB's India Regiment Mission Kenichi Yokoyama at a meeting in Dehradun on Monday. CM Rawat gifted the idol of one of the sacred pilgrimage, Kedarnath to Yokoyama.

 

Chief Minister said infrastructure development in the urban areas was one of his government's top priorities and 100 percent of the aid given by the institution will be utilized for the purpose.

In a tweet by CM Trivendra Singh Rawat, he has assured the amount will be utilized with transparency. The tweet says, “Gifted by country director Kenichi Yokoyama of Asian Development Bank. The government will use the support provided by ADB to enhance infrastructure in the cities with full potential and transparency.”

Institutional processes in the state are being made more transparent and outcome-based, Rawat told the delegation and laid emphasis on forming stronger project management units and better inter-departmental coordination for the implementation of the ADB aided projects.
