Hails to Jharkhand Police: Achieves success to neutralize Kurmi protests; detains nearly 850 protestors

Ranchi, April 24: Jharkhand Police was successful to neutralize the protests by the Kurmi Community on Monday by detaining nearly 850 protestors in order to maintain peace in the state. The appreciative planning and execution by the Police led the protest to be ineffective in the daily routine of the state.

The protest of the Kurmi Community was to pressurize the authorities to give the Kurmis status of Scheduled Tribes. Already this community is included in Other Backward Classes (OBCs). On Monday during the protest, 540 people were detained in Ranchi. The situation of the city was completely normal. Even the demonstrations were ineffective in the rural areas after sometime in the morning.

Even in the districts, only for two hours, the protestors could jam National Highway in Ramgarh. Ramgarh police station Inspector Rajesh Kumar reached the spot immediately to cut the roars of protestors. There was no effect of Bandh in Chaibasa, Saraikela, Chakradharpur, Jamshedpur.

A senior police official said: “The bandh was peaceful. A total of 866 people were detained till 5 pm. Maximum detention was from Ranchi. No untoward incident was reported.”

Other roads including Ranchi Main Road were completely normal. Fully preparedness of the police administration gave sweat to the protestors as the police was continuously detaining the demonstrators. According to the police, 866 Bandh supporters have been arrested from different places.
