Kolkata, April 25: Claiming the Congress party being wrong in giving an impeachment notice against Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee said on Tuesday that she had advised Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi about the same.

Mamata Banerjee said that she had advised the Congress leaders against moving the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice of India was wrong. The Trinamool Congress leader said her party did not want to interfere in matters of the judiciary and had rejected the Congress’ request to support the motion.

Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu on Monday rejected the notice by seven opposition parties that was led by the congress to impeach the chief Justice of India. The impeachment implied on the Chief Justice was cited by the party on five grounds of misbehavior, saying that the allegations were neither tenable nor admissible.

VP Naidu’s order, which came within two days of the notice being sumitted to him, was slammed as “hasty, illegal and illinformed” by the Congress.
