The Union Tourism Ministry has launched a 360° Virtual Reality (VR) experience video on Incredible India, in collaboration with Google. Describing India as a destination of diverse experiences, Minister of State for Tourism, K. J. Alphons said, “India is an iconic destination that offers unique experiences of climate, geography, culture, art, literature, and food.” With this experience, the government wants to give people in India and across the world an opportunity to immerse in our country’s rich heritage. And, through the partnership with Google, it wants to engage new and global audiences and offer them immersive content in a never-before-seen manner.

Speaking during the event, Minister K. J. Alphons added that taking virtual reality to the common man at a low/free cost will further enable an increase in the tourist footfall in Iconic monuments and other tourist destinations with a focus on Museums.

Incredible India in 360 degrees, as never seen before takes through a journey across Hampi, Goa, Delhi and Amritsar, and to explore the places and people that make each of these iconic Indian sites incredible. More videos shall be available at https://g.co/incredibleindia

The teaser was released; the sort of experience you could have when more and more locations are added to the VR portfolio. The video gives a glimpse of what is to come. You could just click-and-drag for a different view of the location. On your mobile, all you would need to do is move it around like you were playing Temple Run. You would just have to turn your neck if you were wearing a VR device.
