Superpowers Unite with ‘Hearts’: Prez Xi steps out twice to heartily welcome PM Modi

Wuhan, April 28: Leaving behind all the sulky issues, India-China prioritized ‘unity for development’ above all. With the informal summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping pledged to unitedly serve towards ‘world peace’ and emerge as a superpower by pooling resources for countering terrorism, climate change, tackle border issues, promote culture, boost trade and pump our economy on global platform etc. 

The ‘informal’ summit holds unique significance as President Xi Jinping step out twice to warmly receive our beloved Prime Minister Modi and accord with a special welcome. Speaking of this special gesture, President Xi said “in my over the 5-year presidency, I have only gone out of Beijing twice to receive foreign guests. Once in Xi'an in 2015, the other is today, both for you. This shows how much President Xi values his personal friendship with PM Modi and China-India relations”.

 

Vice Finance Minister Kong Xuanyou briefed media on #China-#India informal summit, saying, two leaders, both take the view that we are neighbours, friends and partners. Both sides agree to advance all-round cooperation, properly manage differences, promote regional and international cooperation.

 

In a press statement, India-China in a friendly atmosphere, PM Modi and Xi Jinping had in-depth discussions and reached broad consensus on the overarching, long-term and strategic issues of global and bilateral importance, and on their respective visions for national development as well as domestic and foreign policies.

Also, India-China mutually pledged to boost trade as friends, being neighbouring nations. Also, both nations will mutually enhance mutual trust, carry forward the fine norms enshrined in the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence- and blaze a broad path of friendly cooperation between two nations.

Both sides agreed to advance all-round cooperation and strengthen China-India Closer Developmental Partnership in a sustainable manner to support national modernization.

Prime Minister Modi and President Xi underlined that as two major countries India and China have wider and overlapping regional and global interests. They agreed on their need to strengthen strategic communication through greater consultation on all matters of common interest. They believe that such strategic communication will have a positive influence on enhancing mutual understanding and will contribute to regional and global stability. Following this summit, PM Modi and Xi Jinping promised to strengthen mutual cooperation by working towards political stability, security issues and reinforce India-China relationship in better way.

The two leaders agreed to push forward bilateral trade and investment in a balanced and sustainable manner by taking advantage of complementarities between their two economies. They also discussed ways to promote greater cultural and people-to-people exchanges and agreed to explore establishing new mechanisms in this direction.

The two leaders agreed that as two major countries and emerging economies, India and China, given their vast developmental experiences and national capacities, should join hands to take lead in offering innovative and sustainable solutions to challenges faced by humankind in the 21st century. These include combating diseases, coordinating action for disaster risk reduction and mitigation, addressing climate change and ushering digital empowerment. They agreed to pool together their expertise and resources in these areas and create a global network dedicated to these challenges for the larger benefit of humanity.
