Cauvery issue: Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Chennai/ New Delhi, April 3: Amidst the state-wide ongoing protest, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit is all set to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the burning issues of Cauvery dispute. According to media reports, Purohit will brief Prime Minister Modi about the socio-political development in the coastal state where political parties, NGO, and various social groups are staging protest over the constitution of Cauvery Management Board as per the ruling of the apex court. Later, the Tamil Nadu Governor is also scheduled to meet Union Minister Rajnath Singh.
On February 16, the top legal body had directed center to form a Cauvery Management Board to ensure the hassle-free rollout of Cauvery directives. The Supreme court had reduced Tamil Nadu's share Cauvery water from 192 tmcft to 177.25 tmcft on the issue of inter-state water sharing dispute between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
