New Delhi, April 3: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has so far probed 23 cases related to the world’s most dangerous terrorist group Islamic States (ISIS) in which 81 have been arrested while 39 others are absconding. This was said by State Home Minister Hansraj Ahir in Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

In a written reply, Minister Hansraj Ahir said that so far NIA has investigated 23 cases related to dreaded terror group ISIS in which 81 people have been arrested while 39 others are absconding. The Minister further stated that some of the arrested and absconding accused have either provided or received funds for helping co-accused to go to the areas under the influence of ISIS including Syria, Iraq etc.

Notably, the Islamic State terrorist organization which was ones known as the most dangerous terrorist group across the world is witnessing a historic fall in Iraq, Syria and in many other countries due to continuous bombing by the US-led coalition armed forces.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is a Salafi jihadist terrorist organization and former unrecognized proto-state that follows a fundamentalist, Wahhabi, and a heterodox doctrine of Sunni Islam. The self-styled jihadist terrorist organization gained global prominence in early 2014 when it drove Iraqi government forces out of key cities in its Western Iraq offensive followed by its capture of Mosul and the Sinjar massacre.

The group has been designated a terrorist organization by the United Nations and many individual countries. ISIL is widely known for its videos of beheadings and other types of executions of both soldiers and civilians, including journalists and aid workers, and its destruction of cultural heritage sites.
