Washington, April 3: Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is all set to make a 4-day visit to the United States. Shinzo Abe will be hosted by Donald Trump, the President of the United States from April 17 to 18, at a resort in Florida.

“The two leaders will discuss the international campaign to maintain maximum pressure on North Korea in advance of President Trump’s planned meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un,” a statement by White House read.

The trip intends to have detailed talks between the Japanese PM and the US President Donald Trump. Abe to ask Trump to raise the issue of past North Korean abductions of Japanese citizens, during his expected summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“The meeting, the third between Trump and Abe, will also “explore ways to expand fair and reciprocal trade and investment ties” between the United States and Japan,” the statement said.

Japan fears the current diplomatic track could leave unaddressed the North’s short- and medium-range missile capabilities, as well as the emotional issue of Japanese citizens kidnapped by Pyongyang during the Cold War.
