JK government all set to reshuffle; deputy CM Nirmal Singh also resigns

Srinagar, April 30: The Jammu and Kashmir government is all set to get reshuffled as BJP cabinet ministers including Deputy CM Nirmal Singh and others have resigned. However, BJP leader Kavinder Gupta will take charge as the next Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra will administer the oath of office and secrecy to those being inducted into the council of ministers at the convention centre at 12 noon on Monday, an invitation for the ceremony read.

According to the sources, six ministers would take the oath, including five Cabinet ministers and one Minister of State. Apart from Kavinder Gupta, the other new faces are said to be BJP state president and Jammu West MLA Sat Sharma and D K Manyal. Sunil Sharma, who held the Minister of State for Transport portfolio, would be elevated to Cabinet rank.

Notably, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked all its nine ministers in the Mehbooba Mufti government, to submit their resignations to enable bringing in new faces in the two-year-old Mehbooba Mufti cabinet.
