Gandhinagar, April 5: Taking a serious objection to the statement made by Gujarat assembly leader of opposition Paresh Dhanani on activist Medha Patkar, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani slammed Congress for backing Patkar’s Narmada Bachao Andolan. During a party meeting, the Congress MLA referred to the Tweet of newly appointed Gujarat in-charge Rajiv Satav where he had extended support for Patkar’s NGO against the Sardar Sarovar Dam.
Coming down heavily on state Congress leaders, Rupani stated that Dhanani’s endorsement has exposed the nexus between Patkar and Congress leaders for stalling the ambitious irrigation project. The Chief Minister said that Patkar’s Narmada Bachao Andolan had a major share in delaying the lifeline national project. He pointed out that Narendra Modi led BJP government has fulfilled the dream of people of Gujarat by clearing various hurdles within seventeen days after assuming the office of Prime Minister.
