Mumbai, April 6: MakeMyTrip (MMT) has collaborated with e-commerce major Flipkart for selling travel services on its platform.

The company said that MMT's brands including Goibibo and Redbus will enhance customer base of Flipkart to drive online bookings and to boost revenues. It added that the deals will be starting with domestic flight bookings, hotels etc in the next few weeks.

The founder and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MakeMyTrip Deep Kalra in the statement said, "Flipkart and MakeMyTrip have played a defining role in shaping the consumer internet ecosystem in India and bringing millions of people online".

As part of the alliance, Flipkart will, henceforth, offer travel services on its platform. To start with, Flipkart will first showcase domestic flights. The Bengaluru-based company has been looking to build a bouquet of additional services to increase transaction numbers.

Initially, one can book domestic flights starting a couple of weeks and a person can also book hotels and bus tickets later. The partnership comes nearly seven months after Mint reported that Rajesh Magow, co-founder and chief executive officer of MakeMyTrip, had returned to Flipkart's board after a two-year gap.
