Panaji, April 6: Soon the traffic in Panaji will be smoother as the third Mandovi bridge’s work has been completed nearly 70 % and is likely to be inaugurated in August this year, with only seven piles remaining to be completed.

According to the Goa state infrastructure development corporation (GSIDC). Of the 465 piles, 458 are ready, comprising 72 in the Mandovi River and 386 on land. The company, Larsen and Toubro, is going to create a record of fitting 22 cables in just 28 days. And also the fourth part of bridge’s construction is in swing and likely to be completed by July this year.

The Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Nitin Gadkari last month announced that the central government has sanctioned additional 50 percent cost of Rs 450 crore for the under-construction third bridge over river Mandovi, taking the total cost of the project to Rs 850 crore.
