Uttarakhand honors Nepal PM Oli with Doctorate degree

Dehradun, April 9: Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who was on his three-day visit to India, was conferred with Honorary Doctorate by GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology in Pantnagar.

He was conferred in the presence of Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Rawat. Oli said that “both India and Nepal are agriculture-based economies and should work together in boosting agricultural output.” Referring to the Green Revolution, which led to the modernization of agricultural techniques in India, Oli said that Nepal was also looking at a similar initiative which can boost the country’s agricultural sector. He added that he was “looking towards Indian varsities like GB Pant, one of the harbingers of the Green Revolution, who can aid us in achieving our objectives in this regard.”

 

On this occasion, CM Rawat addressed the gathering, he said, “Nepal and India are related as siblings with the same umbilical cord. We are demographically and mentally the same. As far as Uttarakhand is concerned, we share an international boundary with Nepal and are committed to helping our neighbor. Direct flights between Kathmandu and Dehradun will help in better co-operation between Nepal and Uttarakhand.”

 

Recently, Governor Dr. K K Pal personally reviewed the whole schedule of PM Oli’s visit in the hilly state. He held a meeting with senior officials. During this, he had instructed officials to take necessary directions on the visit of Nepal PM.
