Gujarat inks cultural pact with Poland government

Gandhinagar, May 10: In a bid to strengthen the cultural ties between Gujarat and Poland, Gujarat government has decided to join hands with Poland government for the celebration of the independence of Poland in Delhi and other parts of the world. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between two governments. On this occasion, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Polish ambassador to India Adam Burakowski were present.

As per the cultural collaboration, Gujarat government's cultural affairs department will participate in the event called "generations to generations" helmed by Poland government. Gujarat government will be the co-organisers of the grand event. Gujarat government will extend support to Poland celebrate its Independence Day Centenary in October 2018

Gujarat and Poland share warm relations because, during the World War II, Jamnagar king Digvijaysinh Jadeja had saved the lives of over 1000 women and children. As a mark of respect for Jamnagar king, Government of Poland inaugurated the 'Good Maharaja Square' in Warsaw.
