Srinagar, May 10: Lt Gen A K Bhatt, Commander of Chinar Corps called on Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra on Wednesday and apprised him with the overall security situation in the Valley.

Notably, the meeting comes three days after as a 22-year-old tourist from Tamil Nadu was killed and two members of his family, including his mother, were injured when their cab was attacked by a group of stone pelters at Narbal on the Srinagar-Gulmarg highway.

Lt Gen A K Bhatt met Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan and briefed him about the overall security scenario, along with the frontiers and the hinterland. The Army commander and governor also reviewed the security arrangements for the Shri Amarnathji Yatra which commences on June 28 of this year.

An official spokesperson said that JK Governor NN Vohra will be holding the yatra security review meeting on May 23 in which the senior most echelons of the civil, police, Central Armed Police, Army and state and central intelligence agencies are represented.

Importantly, the date 7 May 2018 will be remembered as the most embarrassing day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir as a 22-year-old tourist from Tamil Nadu was killed and two members of his family, including his mother, were injured when their cab was attacked by a group of stone pelters at Narbal on the Srinagar-Gulmarg highway.

After the unfortunate incident, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti visited the hospital and consoled the family of a victim. She termed the death a "murder of humanity" and said the incident had rattled the mother in her.
