MEA Sushma Swaraj emplanes for two days visit to Myanmar: Theme is ‘Neighbourhood first’

New Delhi, May 10: In order to cementify the relations with Myanmar, Sushma Swaraj, the Minister of External Affairs of India, carrying a theme 'Neighbourhood First' has left for a two-day visit to Nay Pyi Taw starting from today.

 

According to a statement, the visit is part of an on-going high-level interaction between the Governments of India and Myanmar.

In the official tweet of Raveesh Kumar, MEA Spokesperson it is said that “Neighbourhood first! EAM Sushma Swaraj emplanes for Nay Pyi Taw on a bilateral visit to Myanmar on 10-11 May. EAM will hold discussions with Myanmar leadership to further reinforce our bilateral ties.”

 

During the visit, the External Affairs Minister will hold discussions with the Myanmar leadership on various bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest. The discussions are expected to review progress made on decisions taken during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Myanmar in September 2017 with a view to further reinforcing bilateral ties.

Several key agreements covering diverse aspects of India-Myanmar bilateral relations are expected to be signed during the visit, the statement said.
