Focusing on ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, PM Modi stresses on 5Ts: Tradition, Trade, Transport, Tourism and Trade to strengthen ties

Janakpur, May 11: Feeling grateful garnering the respect and attachment from the people of Nepal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cited that the relations of India and Nepal are deep rooted since histories with Ram and Sita. Addressing the people of Nepal, PM Modi stresses by highlighting the 5Ts (Tradition, Trade, Transport, Tourism and Trade) to further strengthen ties between both the countries.

PM Narendra Modi further stated that Nepal is at the top of India’s Neighbourhood First policy, and also announced a grant of Rs 100 crores to develop the sacred city of Janakpur and its surrounding areas. He also said that whenever there has been a problem both the countries have stood for each other and been together.

Emphasizing on the 5Ts PM Modi said that trade between India and Nepal is also an important link of relationships. Nepal has been making rapid development in the field of electricity generation. Today, India supplies about 450 MW of electricity to Nepal. We laid new transmission lines for the same.

 

Last month India and Nepal had announced a new partnership in the agriculture sector. Under it, cooperation in the field of agriculture has been aimed to be promoted. This focus on agricultural sector will further focus on how the farmers ' revenues of the two countries are raised. Cooperation will be enhanced in the use of science and technology in the field of cultivation.

 

Talking about the progress and development of the poor, PM Modi said that the country is aiming for building a new India where the poor-to-poor person also has an equal opportunity to progress. Where discrimination is not elevated, everyone is respected. Where children study, youths earn and get employment and the elderly people get their required medicines.

 

PM Modi also said that Nepal has also been a progressive nations similar to India. PM Modi has also wished the prosperity of Nepal to fulfill a bright vision. East-West, north-south, is the chariot race of development in every direction. In particular, the focus of our government has been much in areas where the light of development had not been reached. It is being given special attention to East zone in eastern India which is adjacent to the border of Nepal.

 

He said that Nepal has wide range of positive prospect and when I say development for everyone, it also means that this development also is referred to the people of Nepal as they aim for "Samridad Nepal, Sukhi Nepali"
