Blending ancient and modern customs, PM Modi lauds Katmandu’s contribution in Nepal’s development

Katmandu, May 12: ‘Whenever I think about Katmandu, the image that comes in front of me is not that of the geographical or just a city image, it does not comply to the neighboring relations that both the countries share. Katmandu is a complete world in itself. The history of the city is similar to the Himalayan Mountains,” PM Narendra Modiu warmly said addressing the civic reception of Katmandu.

 

Addressing the people, PM Modi further said that, Kathmandu is a mixture of the ancient and the modern. This city showcases the culture of Nepal. There is something unique about the beauty of Kathmandu. During the earlier visit, PM Modi recalled that he wished to seek blessings of Pushupatinath temple. This time, in addition to Pashupatinath, PM Modi went to Janakpur and Muktinath. These places illustrate close ties between our nations.

Believing in Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas gives global phenomena. It does not limit itself to the well-being of the country India but also incite this feeling among other countries as well. It is not just limited to India’s growth but global development. As India has always worked for the global good and strengthened ties with every country, India has always believed in Neighborhood First policy. Developing the ties with the countries, India for the past 50 years has worked in the field of Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation which has helped more than 160 countries in capacity building and helped the nations accordingly.

 

India has taken the lead in mitigating the menace of climate change. The International Solar Alliance has brought together nations from across the world. There is an atmosphere of hope and optimism in Nepal. Admiring Nepal's spirit of resilience and commitment towards democracy, Nepal has been an example of perfect blend of federalism provincial and local democracy in the country.


India stands shoulder to shoulder with Nepal in its development journey. Development of Nepal with be hand in hands with that of India. Transforming the vision of PM Oli of land locked Nepal to land and water linked Nepal, Nepal will benefit in areas of railway, hydropower, transmission lines etc.


Nepal and India has also been connected through cricket. This has garnered more power to people-to-people ties between India and Nepal. Addressing that a cricket player from Nepal has performed in the IPL, PM Modi highlighted the fact that the sports has also connected the people of both the countries.

PM Narendra Modi visited and offered prayers at Muktinath and Pashupatinath temples today morning on the second day of his Nepal visit. PM Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister and Head of Government from a foreign country to visit this holy temple. He also interacted with the people. PM Modi also visited world famous Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu and worshipped Lord Shiva.

In the afternoon, PM Modi held separate meetings with the leaders of various political parties, including former Prime Ministers Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Nepal has always been a top priority for India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. PM Modi also complimented Nepal for its commitment towards democracy and successfully conducting federal, provincial and local body elections.
