Sunday brings tragic news for Himachal; at least 14 killed in two separate road accidents

Shimla, May 14: Sunday brought a tragic news for the Himachal Pradesh as at least 14 people were killed while fifteen others were injured in two separate road accidents that took place in Shimla and Sirmaur districts.

 

Notably, as many as 8 people were killed and 15 others were injured after a passenger bus fell down into a deep gorge in the Sirmaur district. The bus was on its way from Manva to Solan town when the accident occurred near the Nai Neti panchayat, around 25 km from Rajgarh town. After the accident, the injured were shifted to Regional Hospital in Solan. According to the official sources, most of the victims hailed from Rajgarh area. However, the cause of an accident is yet to be ascertained.

In another unfortunate accident, all six occupants of a car were killed after it fell into a 300-foot deep gorge near Chhaila on the Theog-Hatkoti road, 42 km from Shimla. The local witnesses said that the car driver lost control over the vehicle and fell into a 300-foot deep gorge.

Last month, at least 20 students were killed while 25 others were injured after a school bus fell down into a deep gorge Nurpur in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. In June last year, ten pilgrims were killed and fifty others wounded after a private bus fell down into a deep gorge near Dhaliara, some 60 km from Dharamshala town in Kangra district.
