Jammu, May 14: Security forces busted a terror module of Hizbul Mujahideen involved in hawala transactions in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir and arrested at least four people, including a former terrorist.

At least four people including a former terrorist were arrested after the security forces led by a police and a team of Army launched a joint operation in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir after receiving a specific input. These people were working for Hizbul Mujahideen terror group and involved in hawala transactions.

The four arrested by security forces were later identified as former Harkat-ul-Mujahideen terrorist Aijaz Ahmad, Mohammad Arif, Sajad Ahmad Malla and Khursheed Ahmad Thokar. One of the four is a local from Rajouri and the rest are residents of south Kashmir's Shopian district.

A police official said, “Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and army personnel intercepted a car at Kallar village along Rajouri-Jammu road and arrested the four.” “Aijaz Ahmad had surrendered to security forces in 2005 and underwent two-year detention under the Public Safety Act while Malla too was detained under the PSA for months in 2016,” he added.

During the preliminary interrogation, all the four people accepted that they had come to Rajouri to collect money on the directions of Zeenat-ul-Islam, who took over as the leader of Hizbul Mujahideen after the killing of its commander Sadam Paddar last week. The official also added that the arrested persons were being questioned and more arrests should happen in the coming days.

The arrest comes a week after security forces busted a terror module in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir and arrested at least four terrorists and seven over-ground workers (OGWs). Earlier, Hizbul’s top commander Sameer Ahmed Bhat alias 'Sameer Tiger' along with his close associate Aaquib Mushtaq was eliminated by security forces after a fierce encounter that took place in Drabgam area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that more than 206 terrorists were eliminated by Indian troops last year.
