Pyongyang, May 14: The decision taken by North Korea citing to dismantle the nuclear site has been welcomed by everyone. But the decision to dismantle it was not taken underway and shutting down every speculation, North Korean foreign ministry announced that the country will begin dismantling its nuclear test site between May 23rd and 25th.

The site is located in a northeastern part of the country. Ministry officials say the complete tunnel complex used for nuclear testing will be destroyed. This will be followed by the removal of all observation facilities and closing off of the whole area.

The dismantling of the nuclear site will be conducted through a ceremony which will involve the collapsing of all tunnels using explosives and the removal of all observation facilities, research buildings and security posts.

In April, North Korea said that it would pause its nuclear program, although experts weren’t convinced that it was a significant move: the country had halted its missile testing program between 1999 and 2006, and had shuttered and restarted the plant used to produce plutonium. Experts also noted that it’s possible that Kim Jong-Un could be pleased with success of the program, meaning that no further testing is needed. Others noted that the declaration made for good propaganda in advance of the upcoming talks.

The officials also say a ceremony will be held where international media will be able to observe the dismantling. North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un told his South Korean counterpart last month that the site would be abandoned within this month.

U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will hold talks in Singapore on June 12, the first-ever meeting between a sitting U.S. president and a North Korean leader. Trump’s Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Friday that North Korea can look forward to “a future brimming with peace and prosperity” if it agrees to quickly give up its nuclear weapons.
