J&K: BSF Jawan martyred in firing by Pakistani forces

Srinagar, May 15: A BSF Jawan was martyred in the firing by Pakistani forces along the International Border in State’s Samba region, today.

“Pakistan rangers started ceasefire violation at 1.30 a.m. They resorted to unprovoked firing at the BSF positions on the IB in the early hours,” said a BSF official.

BSF sources said that Jammu that in an unprovoked incidence of ceasefire violation, Pakistan's Rangers started firing targeting an Indian position in Samba sector along the International Border around 1:30 AM.

In the firing BSF, Jawan Constable Devendra Singh deployed at Manguchak border outpost was injured seriously who later succumbed to injuries in a hospital.

The BSF retaliated the fire and the intermittent exchange of fire continued for around 3 hours.

There has been a lull in firing along the IB over the past three months after intense border skirmishes in January and February, which led to many casualties and forced civilians to flee their homes.
