Karnataka Polls: BJP, Congress claim number; all eyes on Governor’s move

Bengaluru, May 15: Amidst the political chaos in Karnataka, leaders of political parties today met Governor Vajubhai Vala and submitted their claims to form a government. BJP under the leadership of state Chief B S Yeddyurappa called on the Karnataka Governor.

Speaking to the media, the former Chief Minister said that as a single largest party, BJP should get a chance to prove majority in the Assembly. On this occasion, Union Minister Ananth Kumar, BJP Karnataka in-charge P Muralidhar Rao, and other leaders were present.

Meanwhile, after the dramatic unconditional support to JD(S) by the Congress, a joint delegation of Congress and JD(S) under the chairmanship of Congress leader Gulam Nabi Azad after meeting the Karnataka Governor stated that with 117 seats, an alliance of Congress and JD(S) has every right to form the government.

According to media reports, JD (S) leader HD Kumaraswamy will be the Chief Ministerial nominee of Congress and JD(S).

On the other hand, BJP will take the final call on Karnataka’s political developments in its BJP Parliamentary Board which is scheduled to meet at 7 pm at party headquarters. In order to fine-tune the post-poll situation, top BJP leader JP Nadda, Dharmendra Pradhan & Prakash Javadekar have already rushed to Bengaluru. The panel of Union Ministers will take the stock of ground zero and will submit its report to apex leadership.
