Kolkata, May 15: The air of violence in the state of West Bengal has been such that it has created havoc in the state. The Panchayat Polls held yesterday saw the most dreadful and the deadliest face of Trinamool Congress. It has been reported that around 18 people have been killed and more than 40 have been injured in this act.

Under this purview, the Home Ministry Affairs seeks report from the state government pertaining to the steps taken to retain law and order in the state. Despite the deployment of around 46,000 personnel of West Bengal Police, 12, 000 of Kolkata Police and 1,500 security personnel from other states, the involvement of cadres belonging to ruling Trinamool Congress in the violence has also surfaced. The West Bengal unit of Congress party also demonstrates a protest outside State Election Commission’s office in Kolkata.

Addressing the issue of violence swaying around the state, the Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) has directed the authorities to take strict action in curbing it.

While Trinamool Congress leaders termed the incident as minor, BJP leader and Union Minister Babul Supriyo demanded the imposition of Art 356 in the state. Supriyo said, “Not surprised by all the incidents that are happening since morning. Bengal govt is a shameless govt, you cannot expect them to follow any kind of constitutional behaviour. I demand President’s Rule in WB.”

The main question arises about democracy. Viewing this violence and fierce behavior of the TMC party, democracy has been shoved down. West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC President Mamta Banerjee yesterday tweeted that there should be fair and non-violent elections in the state. But did she really mean it. Keeping democracy at stake and completely changing the main purpose of democracy, TMC party has totally changed the meaning to making and creating a violent state.

This is sheer case of demeaning democracy as the TMC goons have taken people’s life for granted and put their life at stake. Instances of violence in the state has been very evident and shunning down to this level has been very disturbing. Mamta Banerjee has shamed the democracy as a whole and disgraced the state by their disrespecting and unacceptable behavior.
