Australian government to assist Andhra Pradesh in water management

Amaravati, May 15: A delegation of Australian government on Monday met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu and expressed wiliness to support state government in the field of water management. During this interaction, the panel briefed Naidu about various initiates and discussed future co-operation in the fields like mining, road transport, education and dryland agriculture.

Stressing upon the adoption of an integrated water management system, members suggested that a scalable and adaptable approach will address the issues faced by Andhra Pradesh. The team also urged Naidu to allocate a pilot region for the successful rollout of proposed water management ecosystem.

Approving the proposal, the Chief Minister assured that state government will provide all support for the effective water management. Informing about ongoing initiates of state government, Babu stated that various techniques such as rain guns are being implemented to mitigate the water shortages in different parts of the state. He further informed that one million farm ponds will be created for the purpose of rainwater harvesting.
