And its time for celebrations! Maharashtra ranked second in Swachh Survekshan 2018 clinching 10 awards

Mumbai, May 17: Dreams of many aspirants and a hometown for innovation and technology Maharashtra has swiped all aside grabbing 10 awards in the Swachh Survekshan 2018. Ranking 2nd in the best performing state, Maharashtra has undoubtedly performed immensely well. The results were announced in New Delhi by Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of State (Independent charge) Housing and Urban Affairs on Wednesday.

 

Swachh Survekshan 2018, a pan-Indian exercise to assess cleanliness in urban India, surveyed 4,203 cities this year from January 4 to March 10, 2018. Maharashtra has paved path for great innovation and technological development and therefore ‘Nagpur’ was accorded with ‘India’s Best City in Innovation and Best Practices.’ The recognition comes at a time when the city is scrambling to deal with its solid waste disposal issues. Mumbai was ranked 29th in the Swachh Survekshan 2017 as compared to its rank of 10 in 2016. And now, pushing everyone aside Mumbai clinches the award for ‘Cleanest State Capital’ in India.

The state has welcomed and developed into a major transport hub inviting services and investments, Bhiwandi has been awarded as India’s ‘Fastest Mover’ Medium City. Giving out digital innovation and hovering over every sector, Parbhani has been awarded as India’s Best City in ‘Citizens Feedback’.


‘India’s Best Faster Moving small city’ award goes to Bhusawal of Maharashtra. While projecting the progress it has been noted that the city had been struggling to scramble dealing with Solid Waste Management, now soaring high the Navi Mumbai city has grabbed the award for ‘India’s Best City in Solid Waste Management’.


Terming it as great news for Maharashtra, the state has performed well and has proved to be true winners as the development in the state has grown.
