Raipur, May 17: Frustrated and defeated with the decision of Karnataka’s Governor to invite BJP to form the government as well as by the Supreme Court’s decision not to stay the swearing-in ceremony of B S Yeddyurappa, Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi on Thursday asserted that the nation is living in fear and said that the democracy is being murdered in the country.

The Congress chief Rahul Gandhi who is on a two-day visit of Chattisgarh said that the Indian judiciary and the press are in a frightening situation which are usually seen during dictatorship regime mainly in Pakistan and few other countries.

Rahul Gandhi while addressing the regional convention of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sangathan in Raipur also asserted that in past 70 years this is the first time senior judges of the Supreme Court had to come in front of media to express how they are being threatened, suppressed and not allowed to work. “The fear prevailing among the judiciary is equally felt among the media, who are frightened to speak up (truth) as if someone would kill them”, he added.

Rahul Gandhi also claimed that not only judiciary or media but BJP MPs are also feared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the BJP MLAs and MPs are also facing the same fear like the SC judges and the press.

As Chhattisgarh is going in polls later this year, the Congress President extended his support to the farmers. Lashing out at the BJP-ruled Centre, Rahul alleged that one by one every institution of the country is being captured and occupied by the RSS men. The voice of the Hindustan is being suppressed by the BJP-RSS. “Their ideology don’t offer a proper place to women, tribals and Dalits”, he alleged.

This extremely unfortunate comments of Rahul Gandhi comes an hour after BJP legislature party leader B S Yeddyurappa sworn in as the chief minister of Karnataka for the second time, after an overnight high-voltage legal battle in the Supreme Court which refused to stay his swearing-in. Governor of Karnataka invited BJP to form the government on the basis of being a single largest party with 104 seats.

The BJP has emerged as the single largest party with 104 seats is however still eight short of the majority in 224 seat constituency of Karnataka. On the other side, Congress with 78 seats has given unconditional support to JD(S) which has got only 38 seats. However, Congress and JDS have a majority with the post-poll alliance wasn’t invited by Governor of Karnataka.

After the swearing-in ceremony of B S Yeddyurappa, Rahul Gandhi tweeted saying, “The BJP’s irrational insistence that it will form a Govt. in Karnataka, even though it clearly doesn’t have the numbers, is to make a mockery of our Constitution. This morning, while the BJP celebrates its hollow victory, India will mourn the defeat of democracy.”

As soon as the comments of Rahul Gandhi went viral, Twitteratis exploded at him on insulting India and its judiciary by comparing it with Pakistan. Twitteratis said that Rahul Gandhi insulted India.
