B S Yeddyurappa sworn in as the CM of Karnataka

Bengaluru, May 17: Karnataka elections have been one of the most crucial and nail biting event for everyone as to who will be the next Chief Minister of the Karnataka State. After much uncertainty as to who will mantle the throne and shunning all the speculations B S Yeddyurappa has sworn in as the next Chief Minister of Karnataka.

Giving a time span of 15 days to prove majority on the floor of the house, Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the ceremony as B S Yeddyurappa sworn in as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka in the Raj Bhavan. 

 
While taking on the oath of swearing in as the Choief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa dedicated his win to the people and thanked them for the immense support showering on him. Taking the oath in the name of farmers, he said that the farmers in Karnatake have been under apathetic rule of Congress for the past five years and also has seen most number of suicides. And to put an end to all the mishappening in the state, the farmers have elected the BJP hoping for a good governance which the BJP party will surely endure.  
 

The Supreme Court also stayed the order of the swearing in ceremony of the BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa as Chief Minister of Karnataka. The apex court was hearing a petition early this morning filed by Congress and JD(S) challenging the governor's decision to invite Yeddyurappa to form a new government in the state.

 

While briefing the media in Bengaluru, BJP General Secretary Muralidhar Rao informed that B S Yeddyurappa had got the official communication from the governor. In a letter by Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala, he acknowledged the receipt of a letter by BJP. The letter read as, "I am in receipt of your letter dated 16th May, 2018 informing me that you have been elected as the leader of the BJP legislative party of Karnataka. I am also in receipt of your letter dated 15th May 2018 staking claim to form the government.”

 

The Governor's move is a setback for the JD(S) and Congress that approached the Governor with the signature of over 117 MLAs. Congress had bagged 78 seats, while JD(S) along with its alliance partner BSP, won 38 seats.

BJP had won 104 seats in the Assembly elections in the 224-member House and emerged as the single largest party but fell short of majority.
