Washington, May 18: The United States on Thursday announced to build a global coalition against the Iranian regime and its destabilizing activities. Notably, the announcement from the United States comes days after President Trump accused Iran of supporting terror and announced the withdrawal of United States from the 2015 landmark nuclear deal.

The US State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert in a press briefing said that Washington will be working hard to put together a coalition. She said that the aim is to bring together a lot of countries from around the world with the specific goal of looking at the Iranian regime through a realistic lens.

Nauert further added that the coalition will not be anti-Iran because the United States stands firmly behind the country’s people, in contrast to the regime and its bad actions. Nauert also gave brief information about the meeting of State Department with at least 200 foreign diplomats which held on Monday this week. She said the diplomats were explained with the decision of President Trump of withdrawing nuclear deal and the next steps.

On May 8 this year, fulfilling his longtime campaign promise President Trump announced the withdrawal of United States from the 2015 landmark nuclear deal Iran accusing the country of supporting terrorism. After the announcement, President Trump signed a fresh set of sanctions against Iran and warned countries against any cooperation with Tehran on its controversial nuclear weapons programme.

However, France, Britain, Germany, China and Russia, other signatories of the 2015 deal along with Iran, strongly criticized the US withdrawal. Meanwhile, Indian urged the two countries including US and Iran to resolve the issue through dialogue and diplomacy.
