Delhi Court convicts 'traitor' Madhuri Gupta for sharing Indian secrets with Pakistan

New Delhi, May 19: A Delhi court has found former diplomat Madhuri Gupta guilty of sharing sensitive information with Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and compromising national interest. Madhuri Gupta was posted in the Indian High Commission located in Islamabad.

 

Additional Sessions Judge Siddharth Sharma convicted former diplomat under various provisions of the Official Secrets Act and criminal conspiracy under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court will hear the sentence of Madhuri Gupta today.

Madhuri Gupta, who has been a second secretary (press and information) in the Indian High Commission, has been convicted under section 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act. There is a provision of maximum punishment of three years or a penalty or both.

Madhuri was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police on April 22, 2010, for sharing sensitive information with Pakistani officials and staying in touch with two ISI officials Mubshar Raza Rana and Jamshed.
