Bengaluru, May 2: Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has always been our priority, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Karnataka’s Kisan Morcha Karyakartas woke up today to the glad interaction of PM Narendra Modi. Calling himself lucky enough to interact with Kisan Morcha Karyakartas, PM Modi thanked the people of Karnataka for pouring in love.

 
Interacting early morning with Kisan Morcha Karyakartas through NaMo app, PM Modi said that due to the indifference of the Karnataka Government, farmers of Karnataka could not get the benefit of Prime Minister's Crop Insurance Scheme. Karnataka should have a government that is sensitive to farmers, agriculture and farmers' welfare.

Agriculture and agriculture welfare has been our character and our nature, PM Modi stressed expressing concern for farmers of Karnataka. There needs to be coordination among nature, farmer and government, he added. A sensitive government, which works for the development of farmers is needed in Karnataka, he said. @BSYBJP will work with renewed vigour in our efforts to double farmer’s income, PM Modi informed.

Further PM Modi promised that “our government is committed to doubling the income of farmers by 2022. Our government is trying to empower farmers during the entire crop cycle. We have allocated Rs 11 lakh Crores for agriculture loan which has never happened before. Government is spending Rs 4,000 Crores in Karnataka to complete incomplete projects. We have completed work, related to irrigation, that was pending for over three decades in 25-30 months.”

Around 1 Crores Soil Health cards have been distributed in Karnataka which has led to increase in production, PM Modi informed. We are making efforts to uplift the farmers and come up with solutions for the problems that are being faced by them; our government is working on empowering the farmers he added.

Due to the apathy of Karnataka government, farmers of the state have not received benefits of 'Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana', PM Modi said. We have revived around 100 schemes related to irrigation. With the cost of around Rs 4000 Crores, we have started work on 5 projects that were lying unused in Karnataka so far, PM Modi informed. For notified crops, we have hiked MSP which will be at least 1.5 times the production cost, he added.

We have now expanded the scope of Kisan Credit Card, now it can be used for animal husbandry, poultry form, fish farming and other works of agriculture. In this budget, a provision of spending 14 lakh Crores rupees for village and agricultural development has been made, this is the biggest event in the history of the country's economy, PM Modi informed.

PM Modi announced that in this budget, the government has announced a Govardhan Yojana, this scheme will encourage rural cleanliness as well as the income of farmers and cattle farmers will also increase with the bio-gas coming out of the village.
