New Delhi, May 21: The famous dialogue from the film Dangal, ‘Mhari choriyan, choron se kam hai ke?’ has undoubtedly come true. On Wednesday, 16 May 2018, the father-daughter duo saw the rising sun from a place where only a small fraction of us will ever set foot, Mount Everest.

Just as the sun was rising in the eastern hemisphere, Deeya Bajaj was taking her final steps towards the highest point on earth, and her father, Ajeet Bajaj, was right behind her. Backing up the inspiring journey to spread awareness about gender equality, the invincible duo has become the first Indian father-daughter team to scale Mount Everest.

Coming out with the idea of inspiring people with spreading gender equality, Deeya Bajaj has also written a blog about her adrenaline journey to embark the highest peak, Mount Everest. Together, the Bajajs climbed Everest and made a country record for having done that the first time. On her trip, Deeya wrote a timely live blog where she mentioned each and every detail of her trip, her father and her Sherpa Sardar Nima Nuru, who has climbed Everest 20 times.

Once the hike was completed they made some yoga poses with their Tibetan guide Doma and from there Ajeet and Deeya made their way from Shigatse to Tingri, an elevation gain of about 2,000 feet. After two nights in Tingri for acclimatization, they made their way to basecamp.

For Deeya Bajaj, the idea of accomplishing her dream to reach the Mount Everest came in as an opportunity through her father who is already active in sports-related activity. For Deeya Sunday mornings meant an adventurous expedition and conquering various mountains of Himalayas. The passion for making her dream come true came from her father who has been into adventure sports for over three decades now. He was the first Indian to ski to the North Pole, the South Pole and across the Greenland Ice Cap completing the ‘Polar Trilogy’.

At the age of 17, Deeya became the youngest person to undertake the Trans-Greenland Skiing expedition in May 2011. In the following year, Ajeet and Deeya became the first Indians to ski across the Greenland Ice Cap.

The adrenaline junkies have indeed made their mark in the adventure field. Together, it seems that nothing is impossible for the duo neither the extreme northern or southern points of the planet nor the highest point on earth.
