JJ hospital row: Maha Minister Girish Mahajan assures security for resident doctors

Mumbai, May 21: Condemning the attack on two resident doctors of JJ hospital, Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan assured that strict action will be taken against those who were involved in thrashing resident doctors. 

Speaking to the media here, Mahajan stated that state government is in agreement with the issues raised by resident doctors. He further added state government will address the security issues of doctors. On this occasion, he urged doctors to end their strike.

On May 19, two resident doctors were allegedly beaten up by the family of a patient who was being treated for a gallbladder. The situation got worse when the patient died on Saturday. Following this, the members of the patient manhandled doctors. Responding to the developments, resident doctors of JJ Hospital had called for a one-day strike on Monday.
