PM Modi and Russian Prez Putin will share "Mann Ki Baat" to each other over "Chai Pe Charcha" ; Diplomacy through Informal Meetings continues

New Delhi, May 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi all set to embark on a day visit to Russia for an informal summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi. Discussing issues of mutual interest, the meeting will seek interaction that will be part of regular consultation between the leadership of the two countries.

 
 

The two leaders will meet in an informal atmosphere where they will discuss several regional factors of the bilateral relations. This will be an important occasion for the two leaders to exchange views on international matters in a broad and long-term perspective with an objective to further strengthen Indo-Russian ties.


 

In a series of tweets, PM Modi said, he is looking forward to his meeting with President Putin. The Prime Minister also extended greeting to the people of Russia.


The two leaders will primarily focus on global and regional issues, including the impact of the U.S. decision to withdraw from a nuclear deal with Iran and the International North-South Transportation Corridor connecting Mumbai with St Petersburg via Iran.

 


The Prime Minister and Russian President would also discuss issues like the situation in Afghanistan and Syria and the threat of terrorism. Matters of upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, BRICS, and Eurasian Economic Union summits would also figure in the talks.

The possible impact of the US sanctions against Russia and its impact on Indo-Russian defense cooperation may also figure during the talks. PM Modi has expressed his confidence that the talks will further strengthen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
