Standing by with a common aim: India, China discusses ways to tackle terrorism and security

Beijing, May 22: Resorting to combat terrorism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime, India and China on Monday also discussed security and law enforcement cooperation as Deputy National Security Adviser Rajinder Khanna met Chinese Public Minister Zhao Kheji at the meeting of Secretaries of National Security Councils of SCO members held in Beijing. This was the first such meeting of SCO with the participation of India as a full member.

 

During the meeting, the SCO participants discussed ways and exchanged ideas of combatting terrorism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime in the countries. This discussion aimed at strengthening the SCO cooperation to fight against the difficulties. Discussions also covered the pretext of the current security situation in Afghanistan, as well as other contemporary issues of regional and international importance.

The meeting also encompassed to review the preparations for the forthcoming SCO Summit in Qingdao on 9-10 June 2018 and the signing of outcome documents in the field of security.

On a similar sideline discussing the issues and bringing out mutual solutions, Secretaries of SCO members and Rajinder Khanna had a bilateral meeting with the Chinese counterpart which discussed law enforcement and counter-terrorism cooperation between the two countries. The Deputy NSA reiterated the invitation to the Chinese Minister of Public Security to visit India at an early date.
