Kathmandu, May 22: India Nepal relations have reached great heights with PM Narendra Modi visiting the neighboring country for the third time; relations and friendship have created a strong base for future bonding. Elongating the need to deep root its base of friendship in the neighboring country Nepal, the Biratnagar Camp Office of the Embassy of India will be shut down and relocated.

The purpose of the Embassy camp which was set up in the year 2008 was sought out of the situation arising out of the devastating Kosi floods. In a press briefing, the Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said that the purpose for which the camp had been set up has been fulfilled. The Government of India has decided to wind up its camp office and relocate the personnel.

This decision was conveyed by Prime Minister Modi to his Nepalese counterpart during his visit to Nepal last week. The PM of Nepal thanked PM Narendra Modi for informing him about this decision.

The temporary office was set up by India during the floods in Nepal and north Bihar in 2008 to coordinate movement of vehicles in the border area. The office has been functioning since then. In 2008, Nepal allowed India to set up a temporary field office to issue passes for vehicles to tier Indian roads in the nearby regions after a 17 km stretch of the East-West highway was damaged due to Koshi floods.

The office initially was set up in Sunsari. It was later shifted to Biratnagar. Currently, it is located at Malaya Road on the Koshi Highway.
