Determination and passion paid off well; INSV Tarini bestowed with #NariShaktiPuraskar

New Delhi, May 24: Six women, one cruise and hell lot of experiences, those which will create lifetime memories. The INSV Tarini who returned back to their homeland on May 21st was appreciated by the entire country for their outrageous courage of circumnavigating the globe. Honoring the women, the Minister of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi greeted the INSV Tarini for their extravagant experience.

Ministry of Women and Child Development Maneka Gandhi conferred the Sheroes with the most prestigious award of Nari Shakti Puraskar for their sheer determination and ability to ‘Challenge the Unchallenged’. In a tweet by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, it said, The All-Female crew of INSV Tarini ‘Challenged The Unchallenged’ & emerged victoriously! Congratulations to their impeccable skills! We also had the honor of felicitating them with the coveted #NariShaktiPuraskar, which was conferred by the Hon’ble President.”

 

Returning home fighting against all odds the women have succeeded and emerged victorious. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated and greeted the women squad for encompassing a successful tour. Impressed by the women, the Prime Minister interacted with the Indian Navy women squad knowing and sharing their experiences.

Intending to promote women empowerment, the expedition was titled Navika Sagar Parikrama. The Parikrama covered five legs, with stop-overs at 4 ports: Fremantle (Australia), Lyttleton (New Zealand), Port Stanley (Falklands), and Cape Town (South Africa). The vessel was skippered by Lt. Commander Vartika Joshi, and the crew comprised Lt. Commanders Pratibha Jamwal, P Swathi, and Lieutenants S Vijaya Devi, B Aishwarya and Payal Gupta.
