Bengaluru, May 24: The Vidhan Soudha in Bengaluru will once again dwell in to seek the attention of the leaders playing the political game of proving their majority. The high voltage drama in Bengaluru took a standstill as JD (S) leader HD Kumaraswamy sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday. Claiming to prove majority, the Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will face the trust vote in the State Assembly on Friday.

Forming a coalition with the Congress, the JD (S) with CM Kumaraswamy claimed to have the support of 117 legislators including two other members. The testing time of the Congress and JD(S) to display their coalition has begun.

Seeking the position of Speaker of the Assembly, Ramesh Kumar of the Congress and Suresh Kumar of the BJP has filed their nominations for the Speaker's post. The House will commence with the election of Speaker.

BJP's BS Yeddyurappa will be the leader of the Opposition in the House. Kumaraswamy’s Janata Dal (Secular) won 37 seats in the Karnataka elections to the 224-member Assembly. The Congress won 78 seats. The two parties then formed an alliance and staked claim to form the government.

Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala gave Kumaraswamy 15 days to prove his majority after Bharatiya Janata Party leader BS Yeddyurappa resigned chief minister just before his trust vote on Saturday.

The election result for 222 out of 224 assembly constituencies resulted in a fractured mandate, with the BJP emerging as the single largest party (104 seats) only nine seats short of a simple majority mark of 112. The Congress with 78 seats and JD(S) with 37 seats and two Independent candidates formed a post-poll alliance with a total of 117 MLAs.
