India-Netherlands vow to come closer to deepen mutual cooperation and capitalize for private sector

New Delhi, May 24: “India-Netherlands relations are closer than ever. Agreed to further deepen our cooperation and capitalise on mutual opportunities for the private sector,” vowed Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte after he was warmly received by PM Narendra Modi. 

In a tweet, Spokesperson for External Affairs Ministry, Raveesh Kumar, said that “An important partner in our flagship initiatives! PM @narendramodi welcomed the PM of Netherlands, Mark Rutte at the Hyderabad House ahead of the bilateral talks. This is the 2nd visit of @MinPres Rutte to India. The Netherlands is the 4th largest investor in India in diverse sectors.”


Dutch PM held talks with PM Modi at Hyderabad House after he arrived at capital today morning. In his tweet, Mark Rutte said that “Warmly welcomed to Delhi by PM @narendramodi. Relations with India are closer than ever and India’s growing economy offers many opportunities. Agreed to further deepen our cooperation and capitalise on mutual opportunities for the private sector.”


Before sharing talks at Hyderabad House, PM Modi welcomed Mark Rutte with pride saying “भारत में आपका स्वागत है प्रधानमंत्री जी। Welkom in India @MinPres Rutte! Wij zijn erg blij u te kunnen ontvangen. India welcomes you Prime Minister Rutte. I look forward to our talks today.”


Several agreements are expected to be signed after the talks. Both Prime Ministers will also address the India-Dutch CEOs forum in New Delhi.

PM Rutte will be accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, Minister for Infrastructure and Water Management and Minister for Medical Care. PM Rutte will meet a Business Delegation at Hotel Taj Diplomatic and then participate in the Clean Ganga Event at Hotel ITC Maurya.

Apart from the official program in Delhi, the visiting dignitary will go to Bengaluru to visit the ISRO campus among other activities. Netherlands Prime Minister's visit comes within a year of PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the Netherlands last June.

India and the Netherlands have a bilateral trade of 5.39 billion dollars. The Netherlands is the 5th largest investor in India. It is also home to a 2 lakh 35 thousand strong Indian diaspora, the largest in mainland Europe.
