Anti-social elements, NGOs involved in Thoothukudi cash: Tamil Nadu CM EK Palaniswami

Chennai, May 24: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister EK Palaniswami alleged that some anti-social elements, vested interest NGOs in association with some politicians have crafted the Sterlite Protest which cost lives of 13 people. Speaking to the media about the yesterday’s clash between protestors and Police forces, the Chief Minister backed state security agency for maintaining the law and order situation.

Taking a pot- shot at opposition parties, Palaniswami maintained that firing was inevitable as agitator turned violent against the police. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh took the cognizance of the ground situation and asked state government to submit a report to the Central government

DMK working president MK Stalin, who was staging a protest against Thoothukudi clash slammed state government for not taking serious action against people responsible for the horrifying developments in Thoothukudi. He rapped Chief Minister EK Palaniswami for not visiting the ground zero even after the death of 13 people. He asked Palaniswami to step down by taking moral responsibility for yesterday’s violence. Later, he was detained by police administration.
