Kedarnath creates a new record of pilgrims’ arrival: 1.08 lakh more arrives than last year in just 26 days

Dehradun, May 26: Kedarnath Yatra has created a new record of pilgrims as 1.08 lakh more passengers have reached Kedarnath in the first 26 days of this year compared to the previous year.

District Magistrate Mangesh Ghildiyal said that the government in Kedarnath is providing better facilities to the passengers and they are returning with good experiences. He said that 32 thousand passengers have been treated through our medical camps in Dham so far.

During the interaction with the journalists at the district headquarters, DM said that they are being asked to interact with more than 500 passengers daily and their experiences and suggestions are being sought. At the same time, the administration has succeeded in curbing such incidents of vandalism with passengers of horse-mule operators on the Kedarnath foot road. DM said that in just 26 days this year 3.47 lakh passengers have come to Kedarnath. In the same period last year, 2.40 lakh passengers had arrived.

Till now 1.01 lakh pilgrims have used horse-mule as the transportation mode whereas 29 thousand have arrived via helicopter services.

DM said that the government has got revenue of 1.51 crore from horse mule, which will help in further improving the travel arrangements. He said that even Prasad, a local product made from Choulai, has a turnover of Rs 55 lakh.
