High time to prove the words ‘Save Environment’ by accepting #BeatPlasticPollution mantra

New Delhi, May 26: With an aim to create awareness among the globe to save environment nearly 150 countries celebrate ‘World Environment Day’ on June 5. This year UN has declared India as the global host for this year's World Environment Day with the theme 'Beat Plastic Pollution'. Keeping this in mind, every environmentalist has prepared himself to celebrate this day and spread the message of mother earth.

Being Volunteer, A technology-driven collaboration platform for Volunteers, NGOs, and CSR where one can come in touch with the people having a common interest, ‘Save Environment’. On its Twitter account, a form has been uploaded where one can be a part of ‘Cleanathon’ and other various events starting from 1st of next month. This is an opportunity where one can pledge to beat plastic and using at the least.

 

Preparations for hosting World Environment Day in Delhi have already started, Union Minister for Environment, Dr. Harsh Vardhan on Friday addressed a Curtain Raiser in the run-up to World Environment Day 2018 Celebrations.

The government has initiated a campaign where you can take a pledge to beat plastic pollution can be taken by placing a missed call on 1800 137 1999.

 

More than 10, 000 missed calls have been received in the “Missed Call Campaign” titled #BeatPlasticPollution.

Vardhan has appealed to the people to give up the single use of plastic and also he said, “The fight against plastic menace did not require any big actions, but only minor behavioral changes to adopt Green Good Behaviour.”

25, 940 tonnes of plastic waste is generated every day in the country, with 40% of plastic waste being uncollected and 60 million tonnes of solid waste is generated in one year. A plastic bottle takes between 450-1000 years to decompose. So isn’t the number big? We normally think that what will happen to the environment if I throw only one bottle outside? But if everyone thinks like this then these many numbers of plastic wastes are added.
