Need help? EAM Sushma Swaraj on the way; evacuates 10 Indian trekkers stranded near Mount Everest

New Delhi, May 28: Standing true to her words, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has worked for the people of the country leaving no stones unturned. In her new list of praises and accolades, 10 stranded Indians have been evacuated from Lukla in Nepal.

Bad weather had led many trekkers around that region to be stranded and due to rush, helicopter companies are overcharging the people. A total of 18 Indian nationals, stranded in Everest region for two days, Saturday sought the intervention of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to evacuate them and she has asked Indian Ambassador Manjeev Singh Puri to look into the matter.

 

The stranded Indians were brought to Kathmandu this morning through helicopters with the help of Indian Embassy. A total of 18 Indians were stranded in Lukla, a gateway to Mt Everest as they were unable to travel because flights were canceled due to bad weather.

However, the Indian Embassy has been in constant touch with them and efforts are underway to get back the remaining Indian trekkers. In a series of the tweet, one of the trekkers had tweeted the External Affairs Minister seeking for help and the Indian trekker Amit Thadhani received a quick reply and help from the ministry.

Another stranded Indian national Sourav Ghosh tweeted: "Please help us to get out of here as we have been stranded for two days in Lukla Airport and helicopter operators are demanding an insane amount of money for taking people out. Thanks a lot once again."

 

The people stuck in the Lukla region have sought the intervention of the External Minister Sushma Swaraj and the ministry has been in constant touch with the people to get them back as soon as possible.
