New Delhi, May 3: Releasing the dates for the much awaited pilgrim yatra to Kailash Mansarovar, the Indian Embassy in Nepal has directed an advisory. Pertaining to the released advisory by the Ministry of External Affairs, it states that the Indian citizens travelling should get appropriate Chinese visa and Travel Permit for Tibet before commencing the journey.

The advisory states that the people travelling should attain the Chinese Visa from the Embassy of China in New Delhi. The journey would be through Simikot and Hilsa in Nepal and both these places have inadequate tourist and medical infrastructure. As these areas are also prone to bad weather due to which to-and-fro flights get disrupted.

Sighting this, traveller should also get themselves medically examined before embarking on the tour. They should keep at least ten days of medicine including High Altitude Sickness and other life-saving drugs.

Noticing the monetary claims, the advisory has noted that the places of Simikot and Hilsa do not have ATM facilities so the travellers should carry enough Indian Rupees which is widely used in Nepal. They should also have some Chinese Yuan for Tibetan side. The travellers are also advised to carry an Indian SIM Card with international roaming facilities.

Advising on the network connectivity the Indian Embassy advises the yatris to also purchase a local SIM card while in Nepal, preferably NTC as it provides the 3G facility in Simikot. The travellers may download messaging applications like WhatsApp, Viber and WeChat so that they remain in constant communication even from places with poor or no mobile connectivity but having Wi-Fi.

They are advised to carry contact numbers of their tour operators and agents. The yatris may also call on emergency contact numbers of Embassy of India in Kathmandu on 9851107006, 9851107021, 9818832398 and 9851165140.
