Paris, May 30: Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Tuesday registered a comprehensive win over American team of Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe to enter into the second round of French Open.

Rohan Bopanna and Edouard Roger-Vasselin defeated the American team of Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe by 6-3 6-1 in a match that lasted for over one hour. In the men’s singles, India’s Yuki Bhambri lost the first match respectively by 4-6, 4-6, 1-6 to Belgium's Ruben Bemelmans. With Yuki's defeat, India's challenge in the men's singles came to an unfortunate end.

On the other side, Prajnesh Gunneswaran had made it to the main draw as a lucky loser but he could not compete as he had confirmed his participation at a Challenger event in Italy after losing his final qualifying round and had left Paris. The player has to be present at the venue to sign in and must not have committed to play in any other event to be eligible for entry into the main draw.

Last year, Rohan Bopanna and his Candian partner Gabriela Dabrowski clinched the French Open mixed doubles title after defeating Germany's Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Colombia's Robert Farah by 2-6, 6-2, 12-10 in the summit clash.
