Maharashtra Agriculture Minister Pandurang Fundkar passes away; PM Modi, CM Fadnavis express condolence

Mumbai, May 31: Agriculture Minister of the state Pandurang alias Bhausaheb Fundkar (67), senior BJP leader, passed away today due to a heart attack.

 

According to the information, Pandurang Phundkar had gone to the Breach Candy hospital on Wednesday. As he got the trouble around four o'clock in the morning, he asked the security guards to take him to a hospital. However, he was taken to Somaiya hospital where doctors declared him dead. At the hospital, he suffered a severe heart attack and was relieved of his life.
 
 

CM Devendra Fadnavis condoled by tweeting, “Very bad and shocking news! Our senior leader, my cabinet colleagues, State Minister for Agriculture Shri Bhausaheb Phundkar passed away today. Because of their demise, I lost a senior colleague and a guide. We all have lost an experienced leader of agriculture and cooperative questions.”

 

“He took strong responsibilities such as the Leader of the Opposition, the MLA, the Member of Parliament, the State President of the BJP, and made significant contributions to the party's new heights. I am involved in the misery of his family members, close friends, and workers. My homely tribute to Bhausaheb!” he added.

 

PM Modi also condoled by saying, “Saddened by the demise of Maharashtra’s Agriculture Minister Shri Pandurang Fundkar. He made an invaluable contribution towards building the BJP in Maharashtra. He was also at the forefront of serving the farmers of the state. My thoughts are with his family and supporters.”

His contribution of increasing the reach with farmers in Buldana, Khamgaon area was considered very special. During the agitation of the farmers in the state, Fundkar handled it properly. He was known as the leader of the common people.
