Security forces cleanly finish yet another counterterrorism operation in JK; eliminates three terrorists

Srinagar, May 5: Security forces on Saturday morning gunned down three terrorists after a fierce encounter that took place in the Chattabal area of Srinagar. The body of slain terrorists along with arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.

 
Security forces including Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir police SOG and CRF personnel led a join operation and cordoned off the Chattabal area of Srinagar after getting a specific input of presence of three terrorists. As the search party reached near a house, security forces received bullets from the terrorists ensuing into the encounter. Immediately security forces retaliated heavily and eliminated three terrorists. 

However, in the encounter, two CRPF men and one Jammu and Kashmir police personnel was injured. During the encounter, civilians also tried to protect the terrorists with pelting stones. The counter-terrorism operation was called off immediately after all the three terrorists were eliminated.


Ravideep Sahi, IG CRPF while talking to media said, “3 terrorists have been killed while 3 security personnel have been injured. It was a clean operation and there has been no damage to the building. I thank the people of Srinagar for their cooperation.”

On the other side, an unidentified gunmen shot dead two civilians including a public transport driver after abducting them on Friday night from their residence in Hajin area of North Kashmir's Bandipora district. Later, Jammu and Kashmir police said that bullet-riddled bodies of the two were recovered from the Shahgund area in Hajin town.


Earlier, in the week, Hizbul’s top commander Sameer Ahmed Bhat alias 'Sameer Tiger' along with his close associate Aaquib Mushtaq was eliminated by security forces after a fierce encounter that took place in Drabgam area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district.

In the last week, at least four terrorists belonged to Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) were eliminated in a fierce encounter in Lam forest area of Tral town of South Kashmir's Pulwama district. Just three days before this encounter, on a tip, security forces launched a search operation in Watsar forest area in Handwara town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition.

Importantly, Indian security forces have led a massive war against terrorism and terrorists in the inner parts of Jammu-Kashmir and forward areas. Therefore, Anti-Terrorism operation is continued with such a speed that more than 206 terrorists were eliminated by Indian troops last year.
