‘Antonio Maino’ coming to save her last territory; BJP mocks Congress

Bengaluru, May 8: A week after Congress party mocked Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath with his birth name Ajay Bisht, BJP takes a jibe at former Congress President Sonia Gandhi referring her with her birth name Antonio Maino, which she gave up after marrying Rajiv Gandhi. BJP sarcastically claimed that Sonia Gandhi is coming to save her last territory i.e Karnataka from falling.

 

Last week, the Congress had called Yogi Adityanath by his birth name saying, "We are glad that Mr Ajay Bisht was able to take some lessons of good governance from CM @siddaramaiah and is headed back to be with the people of Uttar Pradesh in their time of need."

Responding to this tweet ahead of Sonia Gandhi’s visit, the Karnataka BJP referred her with her birth name Antonio Maino, which she gave up after marrying Rajiv Gandhi. BJP also blamed the former president of Congress for wasting ten precious years of the country.

The Bharatiya Janata Party in a tweet said, Today, Ms. Antonio Maino is here in K'taka to save her last citadel from falling! Madam Maino, K'taka needs no lessons from the person who was solely responsible for wasting India's 10 precious years. And to Congress, need to remind you of your 'import' jibe?

The tweet comes on a day when former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are scheduled to visit the state for their election campaign. Sonia Gandhi will address a gathering in Mysuru today. Congress President Rahul Gandhi is also scheduled to hold a public rally across the state.

On the other side, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold three rallies in the election-bound state. Uttar Pradesh chief minister Adityanath will also address public meetings in Bhatkal, Byndoor, Mudabidre, Virajpet and Sullia. Meanwhile, BJP chief Amit Shah will also address several public meetings in Karnataka.

Interestingly, as soon as the countdown for Karnataka polls began the war of words between two political parties including BJP and Congress also began. However, the high voltage election campaign in Karnataka also brought in a series of allegations, jokes, challenges, promises etc. The Karnataka Assembly election will be held on May 12 and the counting of votes will be done on May 15.
