#FrenchOpen : Bopanna-Vasselin progress to Men's Doubles pre-quarterfinals

Paris, June 1: Indian tennis star Rohan Bopanna and his French partner Edouard Roger-Vasselin on Thursday defeated all-French combination of Benjamin Bonzi and Gregoire Jacq on Thursday to progress in the Men’s doubles pre-quarterfinal round of French Open.

 

Notably, Rohan Bopanna and Edouard Roger-Vasselin registered a commanding victory over an all-French combination of Benjamin Bonzi and Gregoire Jacq by 6-1, 6-2 in a match that lasted for only 48 minutes. Opening the game in a dominant manner, Rohan Bopanna and Edouard took the lead of 4-0 and later finished the set with 6-1. The first set lasted only for 19 minutes.


Indian duo of Yuki Bhambri and Divij Sharan will play today against Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic for the pre-quarterfinal berths. In Men's Singles, world number one Rafael Nadal eased into the third round with a straight-set win over Guido Pella. While in Women's Singles, two-time champion Maria Sharapova sailed through to third rounds against Croatian Donna Vekic.

Last year, Rohan Bopanna and his Candian partner Gabriela Dabrowski clinched the French Open mixed doubles title after defeating Germany's Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Colombia's Robert Farah by 2-6, 6-2, 12-10 in the summit clash.
